Jose L. Delgado, age 68, of Bayville passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Community Medical Center, Toms River. Born in Arecibo, PR, he grew up in Manhattan and Brooklyn before moving to South Toms River in 1965. He has been a resident of Bayville since 1974.
Mr. Delgado was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Earlier in his career, he worked as a salesman for Sunshine Biscuits, Sayreville, and worked as manager at Friendly's, Bayville, for many years. He also worked as an exterminator and for Tru-Green before becoming disabled in 2010. Mr. Delgado enjoyed cooking, and was known as "Chef Louie" to his friends.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; his sisters, Lila Livia and her husband Tony of Sayville, LI, and Mildred Delgado of Toms River; his father-in-law, John Mayhew of San Diego, CA; his sisters-in-law, Margie Adams and her husband Danny of San Diego, and Annie Hogue and her husband Steve of Lakeside, CA; his brother-in-law, John Mayhew and his wife Janet of Temecula, CA; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Cremation was private. A memorial gathering to celebrate Mr. Delgado's life will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2019 from 4-6pm at Horizon Funeral and Cremation Services, 1329 Route 37 West, Toms River.
